Description

Golden Isles Arts & Humanities was founded in 1989 by individuals in the community who had a passion for the arts and wanted to create opportunities that the whole community could enjoy.  Shortly after its founding, the organization took over management of the Historic Ritz Theatre for the City of Brunswick and the rest as they say is history.   Golden Isles Arts & Humanities’ commitment to developing and expanding the arts and humanities in the community has grown in the last 32 years to include an outstanding annual calendar of cultural and community events, arts education programs and much more.

In 2020, the organization celebrated the 30th anniversary of bringing outstanding programs and events to the Golden Isles community. Our board of directors wanted to make this an annual event but of course, we could not celebrate last January due to the pandemic. They are excited for this fun event to return, not only showcases the organization, but to encourage people in the community to become a member as well. “It's going to be a great afternoon,” says Board President Jason Umfress. “Village Creek Landing is a beautiful spot and we’ll have a delicious low-country boil, cash bar and great music from Backbeat Boulevard. We want to encourage everyone to attend, but really would like those that are currently not members to consider attending, finding out more about what we do and become a member.” Board Member Mike Martin and event organizer added, “Golden Isles Arts & Humanities sponsors so many outstanding programs throughout the year- Performing Arts Series at the Ritz, Arts Education programs for students, and The Golden Isles Penguin Project just to name a few. We are proud of all that we do and want to share that with others.”
